Echoes from Varanasi - August 2025 New single release - piano music composed & performed by Ian Robert Harris.
Varanasi is a city on the Ganges river in northern India, with a central place in the traditions of pilgrimage, death and mourning in the Hindu world. My piece for piano reflects an influence of Indian classical music.

What keeps my heart awake is colourful silence. I'm never finished with my paintings; the further I get, the more I seek the impossible and the more powerless I feel. My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece. Claude Monet

Music written in memory of my parents. An emotional response to family photographs from 1970, looking back in time to another garden, to another snowfall, where we are always together, a time there was.
Souvenir du Docteur Jamain - for piano - August 2023
Piano music inspired by Rosa Souvenir du Docteur Jamain, an old rose variety, first introduced in 1865. A perfect rose and one loved by Vita Sackville-West.
Understated, sparse piano music conveys the emotion in the idea of Svalbard.
A land of snow pierced by the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, with a Noah's Ark role, buried in a mountain covered by permafrost.
The images merge the idea of a seed with transformed versions of the extraordinary mountain top geometric telecommunications domes, near the town of Longyearbyen.
Habanera - for piano - September 2022 written in memory of Shirley Harris (1938-2022)
